A habit tracker without streaks
Streaks are great until the day they break. One busy evening, a sick day or a trip, and a 40-day chain drops back to zero. For many people, that reset is exactly when they give up on the habit altogether.
AuraGarden is built the other way around. There's no counter to protect and nothing to lose. Every habit is a plant in your own garden: it grows each time you tend it, and when life gets in the way it rests under the mist until you come back.
Plant your gardenWhy streaks can work against you
Streaks reward perfection, not progress. While the chain is long, they're motivating. Once it breaks, the number that used to encourage you becomes a reminder of failure, and starting again from zero feels heavier than starting the first time.
Psychologists call one version of this the "what-the-hell effect": after one slip, it's tempting to think the whole effort is ruined and stop trying. A design that turns a single missed day into a visible loss makes that reaction more likely.
What research says about missing a day
A well-known study from University College London followed people building a new daily habit and found it took 66 days on average for the behaviour to become automatic, with a very wide range between people. It also found that missing a single opportunity did not materially affect the habit-forming process (Lally et al., 2010).
In other words, consistency over time matters far more than an unbroken chain. A tracker should help you come back, not punish you for being away.
How AuraGarden tracks habits without streaks
Instead of counting consecutive days, AuraGarden counts care. Everything you do adds up, and nothing ever subtracts.
- Each habit is a plant: a fern, moss or blossom that changes shape as it grows.
- Tending a habit makes its plant grow. Logging it twice in a day still counts, gently.
- Missed days never shrink a plant. After a while it rests under the mist, intact, and wakes up the moment you return.
- Focus sessions and journal reflections nourish your garden too, so every kind of care shows.
- Your weekly or monthly Aura Wrapped is a kind recap that only adds: rest days never count against you.
Who it's for

Frequently asked questions
- Can I still see how consistent I've been?
- Yes. Each plant shows how many moments of care it has received, and Aura Wrapped summarizes your days of care, focus hours and reflections for the week, month or year. You see your progress without a fragile number that resets.
- What happens if I don't open the app for weeks?
- Nothing is lost. Your plants rest under the mist and keep all their growth. When you tend one again, it wakes up exactly as you left it.
- Is AuraGarden free?
- Yes, AuraGarden is free during its beta. You only need an email address to create your garden.
